Honestly, it breaks my heart to see families not getting to spend precious time together because people are so busy working that they don’t get to live. Deadlines, workloads, bad bosses and financial freedom drives many of us into doing our own thing, and yet many of us continue the same patterns we were trying to leave behind in corporate.
This has to stop.
I started my first business in 2018 (it was a VA/outsourcing agency, in case you were wondering) and grew that very quickly to being fully booked within 6 months. Sounds like the dream right? It’s even more impressive when you take to into account that I was doing that alongside caring for my Nan (who had Dementia) full time.
Many business owners find themselves juggling caring responsibilities with growing their businesses, and it’s a really tough (and exhausting) act. It’s something we don’t talk about enough: whether it’s raising small humans or caring for elderly or sick relatives, life happens. There’s so much more to this gig than just being a business owner. One of the things I realised (better late than never) was that, as a heart-led human, I was great at giving my time to everyone else but needed to have more time for me or I would burnout. This is just one of the things I help many of my clients with today.
I’m a Psychology geek, and have studied for 20+ years (yes I know I look too young and it makes me feel very old!). I’m also an Accredited ICF Level 2 PCC Coach, have a Global Top 10 Business podcast and have a combined audience of 34k across my platforms. It makes me almost fall off my chair every time I see those numbers (especially as an introvert!).
Prior to setting up my business, I helped run the back end operations of one of the largest FTSE 100 head offices in Canary Wharf (and I spent more than 15 years managing global businesses), so I know a thing or two about systems that work (and those that don’t).
On a more personal note…
I’m ADHD, an introvert and heart-led soul who thrives on helping others succeed. I live between Hertfordshire on my family farm next to an ancient woodland (many people know me for being knee deep in baby lambs in Spring). I adore my 2 dogs and to be honest, I’m not sure who is more obsessed with who at this point.
